Taking part
SerpApi runs this hackathon for PyCon ZA 2026 attendees. SerpApi is a sponsor of the conference. By submitting, you confirm that you are a PyCon ZA 2026 attendee, are entering on your own and agree to the rules. Submissions close on 21 October 2026 at 23:59 SAST (UTC+2).
Prizes and eligibility
The prizes are R5,000 for first place, R3,000 for second and R2,000 for third, in South African rand (ZAR). We’ll judge projects using the criteria in the rules. We’ll email the winners and check their PyCon ZA attendance before confirming prizes.
Cash prizes will be paid in ZAR or the equivalent amount in another currency. If international transfer restrictions prevent payment to a winner’s bank account, we’ll provide a prize of equivalent value instead.
We may award fewer prizes if there are not enough eligible entries. We won’t reduce the advertised prize values.
Your work
You keep ownership of your work. Credit any work you reuse and follow its licence. You allow SerpApi and PyCon ZA to review your entry and share its name, public links and a short description with credit. Only submit material you have permission to share.
Your information
We use your GitHub sign-in, contact details and submission to run the hackathon, review entries and contact you about your project. Anyone can view your public code and demo links. SerpApi’s privacy policy and service terms apply to its services.
Changes and cancellation
We may exclude entries that break the rules. SerpApi may reasonably modify, postpone, suspend or cancel the hackathon where legal requirements, fraud, technical failures, cancellation of the conference or circumstances beyond its reasonable control prevent the event from proceeding fairly or as planned.
We’ll publish material changes on this website and notify affected participants as soon as reasonably possible. These terms do not override your rights under applicable law.
For questions or requests about your entry, email adarsh@serpapi.com.
